A very good hotel with beautiful garden and warm personality hotel staff. We arrived early after a tiring trip to Mount Bromo and Bella at the reception counter was kind enough to allow us an early check in for a much needed rest. Pak Banu who is a hotel porter gave us good advices on where to buy souvenirs in Surabaya. Another young lady working at the reception counter was also very helpful but I didn't get her name. The hotel has a nostalgic feel and is a heritage building, yet is equipped with the modern amenities. The breakfast is very good and serves the traditional Indonesian herbal drink jamu which is very rare in a hotel. The location is right in the city centre and is in close proximity to most of the attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back to Hotel Majapahit when we visit Surabaya again.

Great Stay at Historical Hotel

Perfect location, with tons of eateries of all kinds - from street food to fine dining - are available just long the street outside the hotel. We managed to visit a couple of eateries that are considered icons of Surabaya cuisine. Breakfast comes with sumptuous options, from local East Javanese to Western. Surprisingly, one of the standard breakfast menu - nasi rawon - actually tastes better than the city's icon. The rest of the menu, all the way to dessert, is simply delicious. The hotel was built by the Dutch (Hotel Oranje0, later taken over by the Japanese (Hotel Yamato), and now as Majapahit has a lot of character, including rooms with high ceilings and marble floors. Unfortunately some parts of the building are showing their age without any visible effort to fix them. The rooms are furnished with old yet comfortable furniture, complemented with newest appliances. The rooms are well-lit with large workdesk. Service is nothing short of hospitable, courteous, friendly, and certainly helpful. We came to the receptions a couple of times with a list of complaints and they handled everything as quickly as possible. the only thing to consider is that on Sunday the street in front of the hotel is closed to all motorized vehicles from 6am to 9am, only the Blue Bird taxis are allowed drive through to pick-up drop off guests.

Relaxing atmosphere

This was my second stay at the hotel. In the lobby with its heartwarming atmosphere, the front desk welcomed me with a "welcome back". The hotel understood my preferences and arranged the room well. For example, the room was located in a quiet area in the back, a balcony facing the courtyard on the ground floor, clean furniture, a power strip on the desk, an ottoman, and so on. I think the closet smelled just a little bit like herbs. Many hotel employees greeted me with smiles. The hotel was quietly working on repairs and I did not feel annoyed. I hope they continue to maintain the historic hotel.

Actually the hotel is good response with the humble receptionist. I like totally all of here. The badroom is clean and smell good. The pool is clean and look gorgeous. When i vacation in surabaya i will book this hotel again. For sure this is the nice hotel in surabaya
